Psalm 51: 1-17

A Prayer for Cleansing and Pardon

Most of us know that God loves us and will continue to love us unconditionally, even through those times that we aren’t loving ourselves and are doing things we know are not up to what God expects of us. I’ve always found it easier to forgive others than to forgive myself. Maybe it’s because I know what is required to be a good person and when I ignore that knowledge and do or say something that goes against what I know to be right I find it hard to go easy on myself. It really bothers me. For me, Lent has always been a time of self examination, a time of asking for forgiveness. Easter feels like a new beginning, another chance to become the person God created me to be. May it be so.
