Hebrews 5:8-10

The words “Live and Learn” come to mind after reading this passage. Even Jesus, God’s own son was not perfect. He “learned through his sufferings to be obedient”.

How many times in my own life do I like to think that I am in control? But God is constantly reminding me that I am not the one in control of my life, only He is. Aren’t we all reminded of this? Just when we think we have our lives all planned out, things can abruptly change. I like to think of it as God’s plans for my life. And the trials and lessons that I face are a reminder of that too.

Another thought that I have from this scripture reading is remembering how easy it is to put some figure heads on a pedestal. Jesus was human, learning from his mistakes and his sufferings like anyone else. Remembering that Jesus was a boy and then a man while learning from God makes it somehow easier to relate to the scriptures and Jesus’ teachings.
