Saturday, March 28Psalm 119:9-16At a very young age, I was brought up with part of my life spent in the Ferndale Methodist Church. Leading the life that was taught there wasn’t “religion” to me--it was just reinforcing all the things I was taught at home and by my grandparents. In a way my family was a big part of my religion. So How does a young man cleanse his path, and keep on guard according to your word? He doesn’t want to dishonor his family! My heart treasured up the sayings of my father, mother, grandparents, and our pastor. I tried my whole life not to go astray from your commandments, as a parent and as a teacher, trying to live a life that would be a good example. There were times that I felt I hadn’t done as well as my father had, but I’ve been very proud of the results as my children and my students matured. No matter what age we are now, we can still try to treasure up your sayings and be a good example to all with whom we are in contact. Blessed you are, O Jehovah, and blessed are all we to try to make a difference by being a good example for those around us. And we are all in some way a “young man”; at any age we can be trying to cleanse our path. We never know when we may be a good example for others in the whole human “family.” And at any age, we can start trying again. |
