Sierra Service Project

Our high school youth, accompanied by their counselors, Doug Monroe and Jennifer Roche, will leave for Loleta, CA on July 20th and return on July 26th, ready and willing to lead us in worship on July 27th.

SSP has been providing life-changing service experiences for young people since 1975 in which they learn first-hand the joys of Christian service to others.  Most of our projects take place on Indian reservations, where youth spend their days repairing homes and their evenings in worship, discussion and recreation.   SSP is all about building:  building homes, building communities, building bridges between people and cultures, and building a relationship with God.  Rise up and build with SSP!  They are an independent, interdenominational Christian organization affiliated with the United Methodist Church.  They will be working with the Wiyot Tribe on their small but beautiful Table Bluff Reservation.  The reservation is very near Loleta, California, located about 250 miles north of San Francisco on Highway 101.  They will be staying at the Loleta Elementary School and using their gym for sleeping and other programs.

We are proud of our youth and their willingness to leave their comfort at home to be in Christ’s loving service to those who need us.  Have a safe and life altering journey!

News from the Parsonage

Some months have passed and much work has gone into the continued updating of the parsonage on Sunview.  Most of you don't ever see this church property and many may have no idea where it is.  It was built in the early 60's and some parts were and have remained the same...over 40 years old. Our great Trustee's have made an effort to inspect, review and also trust in the "parsonage families" recommendations of what could or should be done.

Several thank yous need to be expressed....to Doug who spent some Fridays off, (he would rather have been kayaking), scraping and sanding kitchen cabinets. We added up 14 hours of just wallpaper removal alone...(3 layers). To Pat Hitchcock who made beautiful valances for the newly painted kitchen along with place mats and napkins to match.

Thanks to the Trustee's who purchased a new gas stove-top and to John Thompson Construction for installing. Thanks to Woody and Jan Schmutz for a great new shower head, (a nice hand held one), for the guest bathroom.

A special thanks to an anonymous donor who saw that old landscape fabric was removed and new fabric installed in the side yard.  No more hours of weeding and gallons of Round-Up!

To the Knitting Group....a long overdue thanks for their generous donation of over $750.00 from their sale after church during December.  This money will be used by Martha for some extra items like new and updated light fixtures in the kitchen and bathrooms.

The Builders had given the parsonage some new azaleas but due to a terrible drainage problem they "drowned" the first winter.  Fred Thieme and Woody came over...built new planter boxes..Dale Parker filled with soil. Ten new one gallon plants were placed and hoped some would survive.....this spring they all were in bloom!  I think of all three of them every time I walk out my front door to get the mail.

Thanks again everyone from taking "a bit frumpy" to a home!

Board Of Trustees

At their meeting on June 9th., the Board of Trustees decided  not renew our contract with our security company.  Therefore, it will be really important for all of us to be extra careful about making sure all doors are locked, windows closed and that lights, heaters and fans are all turned off before you leave after your meeting.  The big double front doors are the main breach of security because they are not being closed correctly.  All you have to do is to make sure the right hand door is closed first then when you close the left hand door they both lock  correctly.  Again, the Board of Trustees appreciates the help of everyone to keep our church secure.  Thank you.

We Welcome Austin Jaycob Reed,

son of Jeanette and Mike Reed and grandson of Doug and Sandy Cleveland.
He was born in Germany,  8 lbs., 7 oz.
His big brother is Mason.  May God Bless!

AVOID THE SUMMER SLUMP!

Every year, as sure as the days get longer, our congregation goes off on summer vacations and our income goes into a slump. Please plan ahead and keep your pledge up to date, whether you're in town or not. Hey, you could even pay ahead so you don't have to think about it!

Thank you from your friends on the Finance Committee.
